Margaretta “Marge” A. Meyer, 84, Casselton, ND died on Wednesday, January 02, 2019 at Eventide Fargo, Fargo, ND. Margaretta Ann Williamson was born March 6, 1934, in Loda, Illinois. Her family was her father, Edwin Paul, her mother, Hazel May (Porter), and older brother Frank Robert.

She was known as Margy or Margo all her life. Her early years were spent with her family in several towns along the Illinois River, and she attended first grade in Chillicothe, Illinois. In 1941, her father’s work took the family to Honolulu, Hawaii.

She entered second grade at Aliiolani School, but her schooling was interrupted by the attack on Pearl Harbor. After life settled, she completed second through fourth grades at Aliiolani. In 1944, her father’s work took the family to Colorado, and she completed fifth grade through high school in Lakewood, Colorado, graduating in 1952.

She began college education at Colorado A&M at Fort Collins, Colorado, but she met and then married Wallace Meyer, and they lived on a farm near Hillsboro, North Dakota. Margy and Wally raised four sons on the farm, Donald, John, James, and David. Margy had a passion for crafting and was skilled enough at her hobby to be able to sell her crafts from a store front in Hillsboro for a time.

After the sons had finished their schooling, Margy moved back to Colorado in 1980, living with her mother and brother in Arvada, Colorado. While attending a high school reunion, she saw Bernard Spykstra, who had been a classmate through all the years at Lakewood, from fifth grade through high school. Bernie had become a paraplegic due to an auto accident, and after the reunion, Margy lived with and lovingly cared for Bernie, in Lakewood and Loveland, Colorado, until his death in 2017.

After Bernie’s death Margy moved back to North Dakota, living in Fargo, North Dakota as a resident of the Villa Maria, where she was loved and surrounded by her (4) Sons, (10) Grandchildren, and (7) Great Grandchildren, and her brother Frank Williamson, of Arvado, CO. . Margy had a clever sense humor and she will be missed by all.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior to the service.
