Obituary for Margie Ringer Coleman Margie Ringer Coleman went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Brother Jay Thomas of MacArthur Heights Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Margie was born in Lindale, Texas on July 1, 1936 to Oleta Tucker Ringer and Elmer Ringer. She moved to Orange in 1940.
She attended school in West Orange and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1954. In June of 1954 she married the love of her life, Billy Coleman and they were married for 60 years until his passing in 2014. She worked as an x-ray technician at Francis Ann Lutcher Hospital until the birth of their two sons and she chose to be a stay-at-home mom.
She was president of Wesco Little League, PTA president at Lorena Oates Elementary and West Orange Junior High, and president of Orange County Council of PTA. She holds a lifetime membership in Texas PTA. After her boys were in Junior High, she went to work as a part-time secretary at First Baptist Church, West Orange where she was a very active member for 50 years, teaching Sunday School and working anywhere from elementary to senior adults.
She also worked as a part-time secretary for St. John Methodist Church for 17 years. She grew up in West Orange and continued to live there until she and her husband moved to their church membership to Mac Arthur Heights Baptist Church where she continued to serve the Lord. After her retirement, she enjoyed doing alterations, especially prom and wedding dresses.
She loved quilting and cooking for her family. At all family gatherings, the grandchildren had to have MawMaw’s monkey bread. She had an amazing group of friends that kept in touch daily.
She was a loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister. She is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Kelly) Coleman of Virginia, Ricky (Sharon) Coleman of Bridge City, grandchildren, Brent (Valerie) Coleman, Derrick Coleman, Chelsea Coleman, Michael (Jessica) Coleman, Garth Bowler.
Four great-grandchildren, Carter, Crew and Landry Coleman and Canaan Moseley, and Jillian Coleman expected in October. Her siblings, Georgie Brady, Harold (Sandy) Ringer, and Dan (Mary) Ringer. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Coleman, Derrick Coleman, Michael Coleman, Roger McKinney, Joshua McKinney, John LeJeune and Garth Bowler.
