Maria L. Bernardini, 86, of Louisville passed peacefully Thursday, February 7th at her home, surrounded by family. She was born and raised in Argentina where she became a Medical Doctor before moving to Rochester, New York. There she practiced medicine as an Internist at Monroe County Infirmary.

Later she taught science in both high school and college in New Jersey. She is survived by her loving husband, Jeorge E. Bernardini, daughter, Jill Bernardini Lauroesch and son, Craig J. Bernardini. Her brother Alcides Gonzalez and cousins reside in Argentina.

Maria was an athlete all her life; jogging 5 miles, plus swimming and playing tennis daily until recent years. Her body will be cremated. Expressions of sympathy may be made to medical research, environmental improvement or to an animal care and welfare organization.
