SUBLETT, RUBY “Nanny” 94, passed away peacefully Monday, February 4, 2019 in Louisville where she had lived for the past 59 years. She was a native of Coburg, Kentucky and was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College with a Master’s in Education from the University of Louisville. She retired from JCPS after a teaching career that started when she was 20, teaching in a one room school house in Taylor County, KY continuing to her last position as a first-grade teacher at Middletown Elementary.

She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, and an active member of the Middletown United Methodist Church for over 35 years. One of the little-known facts about Ruby was that she had her own radio program, Ruby’s Hymns, as a young singer, and was invited at one point to join Pee Wee King and his Golden West Cowboys. While she enjoyed many activities – a good book, cooking, travel – she loved most just being with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 72 years, Adrian Sublett; survived by her son, Dr. James Sublett (Lelia); grandchildren, Dr. Wes Sublett (Mills), Duncan Morel (Darcy), Carrie Sublett, and Sara Sublett; great-grandchildren, CeCe and Knox Sublett and Sawyer and Cruz Morel. A Celebration of Ruby’s Life is planned at 12 noon, Friday, February 8, 2019 at Middletown United Methodist Church, 11902 Old Shelbyville Rd. , Middletown.

Visitors may gather at 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Forest Springs; her personal caregiver for the past several years, and friend, Ruby Hyde; and the compassionate care and guidance of Carmel Person MD.
