Obituary for Maria Raya 1940-2018 Was born on September 10, 1940 in Guaracha San Antonio Michoacán, Mexico. She came to Santa Barbara, California in 1961. She married the love of her life Alberto Cesario Raya at Guadalupe Church on May 25th 1963.

They built a beautiful home on the lower Westside of Santa Barbara, and had four children. Maria was the matriarch of her family. She was the glue that ensured our family bonded together and made sure the family came together for holidays, birthdays and general family gatherings.

Maria passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 17th 2018 surrounded by her family. Maria is survived by her four children; Alberto Jr, Armando, Alejandro, and Sonia Raya-Castro. Her 13 grandchildren; Megan, Alicia, Cecelia, David, Karina, Vincent, Rachel, Adrian, Frankie, Alexandra, Maya, Alberto, and Virginia, and her 3 great-grandchildren Kamila, Remington, and Elizabeth.

Maria will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives she touched. A Rosary will be held at 3:00pm on Monday April 30th at Guadalupe Church. Mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday May 1st at Guadalupe Church, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
