OBITUARY Marian Louise Smith November 15, 1930 – July 13, 2018 Marian L. Smith went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on July 13, 2018. She passed peacefully at her home at Sunrise Assisted Living where she lived for the previous 18 months. Marian Louise Walton was born on November 15, 1930 in Corsicana, TX to William Lloyd and Bessie Lindsay Walton.

She was a graduate of Trimble Technical High School in Ft. Worth. Marian married the love of her life, Albert L. Smith, Jr. on July 15, 1955.

They had two children, James Walton and Susan Kaye. Al preceded her in death in 1970. Marian enjoyed a career at General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin.

She especially cherished the opportunity she had to work in Taiwan for 18 months. She loved her work and co-workers who became lifelong friends. Marian was an organizing and charter member of St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1964.

She served in various capacities throughout her life and she remained a member until her death. Perhaps her greatest interest was homemaking. She was a renowned cook and enjoyed trading recipes with friends and family.

Sewing, crafting, decorating, and home organization were all valued pastimes. Marian also loved to travel and traveled throughout the US and internationally, but her favorite vacation spot remained the Colorado mountains. Marian’s greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by her son Walt Smith and wife Karen of Crowley, and daughter Susan Cates and husband Bill of Hutto; grandchildren Leigh Smith Lambert and husband Jeff of Ft. Worth, Kymberly Smith Jones and husband Ken of Benbrook, Lindsay Cates, Elizabeth Cates, and William Cates of Hutto; and great-grandchildren Cassidy Smith, Holden Lambert, and Brady Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband, Al Smith; mother and father, Lloyd and Bessie Walton; and sister, Betty Ann Hart.

She loved family gatherings with her extended family of nieces, nephews, and was especially fond of her sisters-in-love Jeanelle Roberts and Diane Smith. Visitation will be on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Laurel Land in the Chapel of Chimes. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Sycamore School Rd.

with interment to follow at Laurel Land Cemetery. The family requests memorials to be made to St. Luke Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
