Obituary for Marie A. Zappone (Anatriello) HALFMOON – Mrs. Marie A. Zappone, 91, of Route 236, died Monday, Jan 14th at Saratoga Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, Dec 31, 1927, daughter of the late Matteo and Lucia Cavotta Anatriello, Marie was sadly predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James D. Zappone in 2009. Marie had a work ethic instilled in her at a young age, and in addition to raising her family, had a busy life.

She was a former dental assistant for Dr. Michael Cavotta DDS for years, clerked for NYS Dept of Tax and Finance, managed the former Colonial Coffee Shop of Lansingburgh, bookkeeper for Zappone Excavating Co, in addition to being a great cook, avid reader, puzzle solver, sewing and knitting, and working her gardens. But above all, Marie, a proud Mother and Grandmother, loved doting on her family, always attending their activities, including sporting and scholastic events of all her family, along with spending holiday time together. Survivors include her three beloved sons and their spouses: Kenneth and Julia Zappone of Denver, NC, James and Sheri Zappone of Queensbury, Anthony and Diane Zappone of Ballston Lake, adoring grandchildren: Julia Moyer, James and Michael Zappone, Kara Velez, Matthew Zappone, Leah Klein, Anthony and Gina Zappone along with 11 great grandchildren.

Also her brother Mathew “Mert” (Marylou) Anatriello of Mechanicville and sisters in law Mary Alonzo, Rose Zappone, Lillian and Helen Anatriello, nieces, nephews and families. In addition to her husband, predeceased by siblings Anthony “Taw” and Kenneth “Colonel” and Gaetano Anatriello, Michalena Kaempffee and Philomena Fiacco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Clifton Park Center Rd, with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours at ST EDWARD THE CONFESSOR CHURCH, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY on Thursday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in loving memory of Marie A. Zappone. To send flowers to the family of Marie A.
