Marilyn A. “Sis” Apostal, of Crystal Lake, passed away surrounded by her beloved family on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born October 15, 1930, in Oak Park, the daughter of the late Edwin H. and Rita Belle (nee Lyle) Melone. A strong woman of faith and dedicated Catholic.
A sixty-year Parish member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake. Even taking a trip of a lifetime, traveling to the holy land with her best friend, Mary Madden to be Baptized in presence of the Pope. Your local AVON lady had skin to be envious of.
Always dressed to impress and ready to celebrate. Impressing those around her with her angelic harmony while singing happy birthday or in her church choir. Her laughter could bring you to tears and she commanded to never cry alone.
A lady before her time. An entrepreneur that put her heart & soul in her community. Purchasing 31 Flavors Baskin Robbins, downtown Crystal Lake in 1977, closing in 2000 to aid in the restoration of the Raue Center for the Arts Box Office.
The second Baskin Robbins location was in Woodstock from 1986 – 2007. A community steward, donating for every church function and always willing to lend a helping hand. The true definition of servant leadership and humble saint.
Mrs. A, the friendly face behind the ice cream counter that always remembered her customers. With every essence of her being was the binding force holding the family together. This selfless monarch will be dearly missed and remembered by all that knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Nicholas, whom she married February 14, 1953 in Downers Grove; her only living sibling; Beverly Mosher; children; Nicholas Apostal (Sue), Linda “Sis” Apostal, Michael (Jill) Apostal, James Apostal, Laura (Fred) Apostal-Gardea, Renee (Scott) Apostal McClain, and Denise (Jim) Apostal-Orrico; her grandchildren; Nathan (Leticia), Rhienna (Edward), Cassia (Maison), Jamin, Conner, Abbey, Steven, Jacob (Taylor), Alena (Colin), Larisa, Jimmy, Vince, Lisa, Rebecca, James, John Pieter (Traci); her great-grandchildren; Chelsea, Elyse, Emmit, Sean, Brandon, Jacob, James and Joyce; other family(s); the Mosher family, the Zenk family, the Berg family, the Apostal family & the Madden family.
