Marilyn Jo (Schimmel) Brod, age 82, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018 surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born on March 22, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois which is where she spent her childhood. Marilyn married the love of her life, Donald Leonard Brod, on February 12, 1955 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Skokie, Illinois.

Don and Marilyn were blessed early in their marriage with three children; Debbie, Cindy, and John. They were fortunate to share every holiday and birthday with their children, whom they loved dearly.
Marilyn was a devoted and loving mother. She endured all of the family outings and adventures devised largely by Don. They enjoyed camping, fishing and visiting a family friend’s ranch in Wyoming.
The endeavors were a lot of work for Marilyn while tending to three active children. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, quilting, handicrafts and tole painting. She created and sewed the majority of clothing for her children.
Marilyn was involved in the Girl Scouts to support her daughters. She provided homework assistance and was exceptional with English, literature, and history. Don gave support in the subjects of math and science.
The two were a superior team. Marilyn and Don are lifetime members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Marilyn was involved in the Council of Catholic Women and other church ministries.
She volunteered countless hours at St. Vincent de’ Paul. They were also lifetime members of the Telephone Pioneer Group and enjoyed profound friendships throughout their life. Marilyn was an elegant, thoughtful, and sophisticated person, devoted wife, mother, and friend.
Marilyn and Don shared a marriage which embodied dedication, honesty, laughter and love. Marilyn’s loving family includes her treasured husband Donald Brod; children Debbie (Ralph) Bieker, Cindy (Mike Ewing) Morimoto, and John Brod; grandchildren Casi (Tom) Porter, Ralph Bieker, Justin Bieker, Jenni (Drue) Hagler, and Elizabeth (Quest) Rosa; and great-grandchildren Taylor, Jett & Cason Porter and Journey Rosa. Family and friends are invited to funeral services at St. Joseph’s Chapel, 439 N Hayes Ave, Pocatello, ID on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 am.
Graveside services will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S 5th Ave, Pocatello, ID. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de’ Paul, 855 S 2nd Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201.
