OBITUARY Marilyn J. Shaw June 19, 1943 – September 29, 2018 Marilyn J. Shaw, 75, of Kingsley, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Keith and Jean Denton. On April 6, 1968, Marilyn married her best friend, James Shaw, at the Second Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Marilyn graduated from Hudsonville High School in 1961. She earned a degree in nursing and went on to practice for 30 years, working in physician offices in Traverse City and Kingsley. After retirement, Marilyn was a tour director for student educational trips.

Marilyn was a very active member at Kingsley Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, bicycling, camping, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Shaw of Kingsley, three children: Bryan (Kathe) of Petoskey, Aaron (Heather) of Cedar Springs and Rebecca Stanislaw of Oro Valley, Arizona.

Nine grandchildren: Alec, Kendra, Olivia and Madeline Shaw, Victoria (Joel) Twinem, Jonathan, Dustin and Benjamin Shaw and Rune Stanislaw. Two brothers, Gordon (Marillyn) Denton, Warren (Cheryl) Denton, brother-in-law Dathan Rooze and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Matthew Shaw and her sister, Marcia Rooze.

A memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Kingsley Baptist Church. Family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a luncheon will follow the service. Pastors Steve Summerfield and Mike Brayton will officiate.

Donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to Kingsley Baptist Church, The Rock or Kingsley Lions Club; envelopes will be available at the church.
