OBITUARY Marilyn Kay Wakefield May 4, 1938 – November 5, 2018 Marilyn Kay Wakefield of Rendon, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed from this life on November 5, 2018 to be with her Lord and Savior. Kay, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on May 4, 1938 to Neta and Windle Nicholson, and raised on the family farm in Vici, Oklahoma for the better part of her life. It was through the family farm where Kay developed her love and compassion for animals.

She attended school in Vici and graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, Texas. On June 16, 1956, Kay married the love of her life, Billy Wakefield. In addition to their two daughters, they have three granddaughters and two great granddaughters.

Throughout her life, Kay was active in the community, involved in volunteer work that centered around her kids; she was active in the schools as well as coaching local youth sports. She had many other interests that she enjoyed; reading books, gardening, traveling, children, and animals – she loved her dogs and would take in any animal that needed a home. Above all else, Kay enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was warm and friendly, instantly loved by those who came into contact with her. Kay was also an entrepreneur, owning and managing her commercial janitorial business for many years. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Neta and Windle Nicholson of Fort Worth, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Wakefield; two daughters, Selena Nix and husband, Larry; Sheree Brockway and husband, Jon; three granddaughters, Angie Nix, Marissa Herron, and Erica Sleeth and husband, Alex; and two great granddaughters, Madelyn Kay Hickey and McKinna Shelton.
