Obituary for Amelia Govan Amelia Govan 101, of Eastland passed away on her Birthday Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Eastland, Texas. Visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home 411 S. Mulberry St. Eastland on Friday, November 23rd from 6-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, November 24th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Danny Brown officiating, burial will follow in Eastland City Cemetery.

She was born in Elmo, Texas to Huey and Hattie Green on November 15, 1917 and was the oldest of 5 children. She moved to Eastland in 1932, was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Seaberry and Frost Family for 50 years or more. Amelia was a faithful member of Little Flock Baptist Church, First Baptist Church at 710 North Seaman St and several others.

Over the years she serviced in many places as musician, Sunday School Teacher, President of Choir, Youth Director on the West Texas District Association, Secretary of the Heroines of Jericho, and was honored with the Title of Woman of the Year; but her greatest accomplishment were her children, Tommie J. Jones, Raydell Govan, Doris M. Morrow, Eligha Govan, and Patricia Parker. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eligha Govan Sr; son, Raydell Govan; sisters, Freddie M. Crawford and Evelyn L. Wilson; step brothers, Clyde and Grady Rodgers; step-mother, Ruby Ross Green. Amelia is survived by her children, Tommie J. Jones, Doris M. Morrow, Eligha Govan, and Patricia Parker; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Mrs. Ladell Randall.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eastland Nursing Home, you played a great part in our mother’s special needs and we are very grateful for your love and kindness.
