Marion Gay Wood, 85, Reeds, MO, passed away Monday evening, December 10, 2018 at his home with family by his side. Marion was born June 12, 1933 in Duenweg, MO to the late Geoffrey Wood and Erma (Mullins) Wood. He was a 1952 graduate of Carthage High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s egree in Industrial Management from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA.

Marion married Virginia Faye Whitaker on January 29, 1952 in Carthage, MO; she survives. Marion was a veteran serving his country… Read More » during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as manager of customer education for the Xerox company.

Marion was also a teacher at the Carthage Vocational Technology Center from 1991-1996. He attended the First Presbyterian Church, Webb City, MO. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Melissa Jane Barbato (Jim), Pittsford, NY; one son, Harold Robert Wood, Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Harold Wood (Lera), Neosho, MO; two grandchildren, Denise Barbato, Fairport, NY, and Jim Barbato, Jr., Fairport, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Barbato and Paige Marie Barbato of Fairport NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Dudman Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to Visiting Angels or Avalon Hospice in care of Knell Mortuary.
