She was born on July 24, 1925 in Binghamton to Neil C. and Marion B. Follet, and lived there her entire life. Joanie is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers William and Donald Follet, and her sister Frances Mastic.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Follet, niece Gloria Courtright, and nephews John, Richard, Warren, and Robert Follet. As a developmentally disabled person, she spent the last few years of her life under the management of Broome Developmental Center, Susquehanna Day Habilitation, Handicapped Children’s Society, Elizabeth Church Manor, and the Kendrick family care home of Binghamton. Joanie’s immediate family will always be grateful to those organizations, and for the Kendrick family’s love for Joanie and their advocacy for her needs during those years.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, 3997 Old Vestal Road, Vestal. Please bring to bring a flower or a stuffed animal as a token of your remembrance of Joanie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Handicapped Children’s Society, Susquehanna Day Habilitation, or Elizabeth Church Manor.
