Marjorie Jean Baird April 04, 1926 – February 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Marjorie Jean Akins Baird of Milton-Freewater passed away at her home on February 26, 2019 at the age of 92. Marjorie was born to Clay and Marie Grogan on April 4, 1926 in Walla Walla, Washington. After graduating from Mac-Hi in Milton-Freewater, Oregon she went on to obtain her beautician license.

On October 4, 1946 she married Carl E. Akins and lived in Weston, Oregon for a time, then moved to the Ferndale area and then to her present residence in 1959. Marjorie retired from the local postal service as a rural mail carrier. She loved to travel and go camping.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Carl Akins and Rolland Baird and a grandson, Steven Akins. Marjorie is survived by sons, Randy and Greg (Pat) Akins; 5 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 408 W. Poplar Street, Walla Walla, Washington.

Private family interment will be at Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Marjorie may be made to St. Judes in care of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon 97862. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice for all their help.
