Obituary for Marjorie LaVeta Rasco (Reith) Marjorie L. Vanfossan Rasco 1921-2018 Marjorie Rasco, 97, of Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Barnard, Missouri, died Friday November 2, 2018 at Maryville Living Center. She was born on August 15, 1921, at Bedford, Iowa, to Theodore and Malona Round Reith. Mrs. Rasco has lived most of her adult life in the Barnard Community where she operated a beauty salon for many years.

In the late 1960’s, she decided to go to college where she earned her degree in elementary education and library science. She taught for many years in the South Nodaway Elementary School. She was a member of the Barnard Christian Church, O’Howell-Strader American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #102 and the Barnard Guilford Ladies’ Organization.

She married Samuel J. Vanfossan March 26, 1941. He died March 3, 1983. She then married Wendell Rasco July 15, 1985.

He died November 30, 2008. Also preceding her in death were two sons: Jimmy and Ronnie Vanfossan, daughter-in-law Carolyn Vanfossan and a grandson, Scott Vanfossan. She is survived by two sons: Sam (Joan) Vanfossan, Barnard and Larry (Phyllis) Vanfossan, Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter Teena (Ronnie) Turnbaugh, Des Moines, Iowa; daughter-in-law Carolyn Sue Vanfossan, Kansas City, Missouri and many grand and great-grandchildren.

In 1985 she married Wendell Rasco, who had five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who also became her family. Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 PM, Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Funeral Services 2:00 PM Tuesday, Barnard Christian Church, Reverend Pat Sampson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Maitland, Missouri Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Barnard Christian Church. www.
