Marjorie Marie (Lewellen) Reed Hess, 90 years of age, of Fairbury passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born on May 15, 1928 at Union Center, Nebraska to Charles and Edna Mae (Izer) Lewellen. She married Vernon Reed on December 21, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas.

Marjorie retired from working at the Goodie Shop on the campus of BSDC. She rescued many animals over the years and enjoyed cooking, flowers, playing cards, dancing and just people in general. Marjorie is survived by daughters, Sharon Higgins-Blackledge of Waterloo, Iowa, Shirley Plagman Aden of Fairbury; grandchildren, Tammy Plagman Adams of Cortland, James Plagman of Fairbury, Robert Reed of North Carolina, Jonathan Higgins of Virginia; great grandchildren, Casey Thorell Adams, Kelsey, Morgan, Austin, Nathan and Jackson; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Reed on September 14, 1978; son, James Reed; son-in-law, Gary Higgins; step father, Arthur Post; sister, Virgie Whitton; and many other beloved family members. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, June 11, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
