Marjorie R. Schafer, 95, of Monroeville passed away peacefully Monday, February 25, 2019 in the Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness. She was born February 2, 1924 to Daniel and Dora (Brobst) Hohler and attended Monroeville High School. For several years she worked with local families as a caregiver.

She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Marjorie enjoyed volunteering for her church family, playing euchre, assembling puzzles, tending to her flower gardens, picking elderberries for her famous pies, cooking, and baking for her family. Marjorie was also an avid sports fan of the Cleveland, OSU, and Monroeville Eagles teams.

She was very proud and supportive of all her grandchildren. She is survived by four children, James (Norma) Schafer of Norwalk, Carolyn (Donald) Martin of Attica, Joanne (Paul) Szulc of Sandusky, and Ron (GayLynn) Schafer of Monroeville; eight grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Alt, Heather (Jeff) Justen, Allan Martin, Ryan (Phil Tamoutselis) Szulc, Chris (Jamie) Szulc, Erica (Dave) Krueger, Drew (Ashley) Schafer, and Brock (Nicole) Schafer; eight great grandchildren, Clay, Ava, and Isaac Krueger, Marty Justen, Joey and Noah Alt, and Elsie and Foster Szulc; her close family friend and neighbor, Bob Opper and her beloved dog and best friend, Rosie; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded by death by her husband of 58 plus years, Edward J. Schafer; her parents; six siblings, Irene Chapin, Alice Fries, Florence Laux, Robert, Russell, and Richard Hohler.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 1, 2019 in St. Alphonsus, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio 44857. Fr.

Ronald Schock will officiate. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Building Fund.
