Urbain December 27, 1958 – March 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mark J. “E.J.” Urbain, 60, of rural Farley, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family in Farley, Iowa. Friends and relatives of Mark may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Mark requested that family and friends wear casual wear to his services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Phillip Kruse presiding and Rev. Joseph McDermott S.V.D concelebrating.
Private burial will be held at a later date. He was born December 27, 1958 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Earl and Gertrude (Klostermann) Urbain. He was a 1978 graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa.
On May 29, 1982 he was united in marriage to Julie McDermott at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa. He drove truck for Tschiggfriee in Dubuque for many years. He later went on to work as a carpenter for Portzen Construction until his retirement.
Mark took pride in his land. You could usually find him mowing grass, entertaining in the Man Cave, watching his Hawkeyes, or taking Ranger rides. He loved his grandkids, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Urbain of Farley, IA; two children Abby (Dan) Ankenbauer of Clear Lake, IA and Ben (Dallas) Urbain of Onslow, IA; 5 grandchildren, Lily, Colten, Nate and Caden Urbain and Kinzly Ankenbauer; eight siblings, Sue Ann (Gilbert) Beringer of Dyersville, IA; Bernie (Mary) Urbain, Bob (Jean) Urbain both of Farley, IA, Judy Koppes of Monmouth, IA; Nancy (John) Kramer of Worthington, IA, Jeff (Sandy) Urbain of Peosta, IA, Wanda (Dave) Roberts of Omaha, NE and Sarah (Tim) Ells of Davenport, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Patricia) McDermott of Morrison, CO, Gerald (Jolene) McDermott of Castle Rock, CO and Jodi (Mark) Naig of Waterloo, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Dave Koppes; sister-in-law, Joni McDermott; his father and mother-in-law, Michael A. and Lois J. McDermott and his best friend, Melvin Ernzen. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Engleman, his nurses Sarah and Danielle, and all his Chemo nurses Medical Associates.
