Memorial Services for Mark R. Swenson, 58, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Reverend Dr. Raponzil Drake and Reverend Stephen Lund will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.

Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. He passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Mark was born August 30, 1960 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to his parents Roger and Linda (Gulseth) Swenson.

He graduated from Lexington High School in 1979. Later, Mark graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. On October 16, 1993, Mark married Linda Pojar at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk.

Two years later, the couple was blessed with twin daughters, Danielle and Lindsay. Mark worked as a pharmacist for Alexander’s, Lloyd’s and Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He loved cars, collecting Cherished Teddies, softball, and the Minnesota Vikings.

During Mark’s lifetime, he endured over 400 surgeries due to a rare kidney disease. Still, he looked forward to each and every day and considered them “as a gift from God”. Mark was an inspiration not only to his family and friends, but to all his doctors, nurses, teachers, and pharmacy customers.

He truly made a difference in the lives of many. He is survived by his daughters Danielle and Lindsay Swenson of Stanton, father Roger, sister Kristi (Robert) Crawford, brother Christopher (Wendy) Swenson, niece Kayla (Zeb) Spaulding and their children Parker and Memphis, niece Sabrina Swenson, and nephew Carter Swenson. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Linda.
