Marlin Kenneth Teske, age 85, of Neshkoro, WI, peacefully passed away at home after a long illness on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, with his wife, Deborah, by his side as well as Pauline Johnson and James Reisen. He was born on October 12, 1933, at home on the farm in Budsin, WI, with the assistance of a midwife. He was the oldest child of Walter and Martha (Meyer) Teske.

Marlin spoke only German until the age of 6 when he attended Neshkoro Grade School and was taught the English Language. In 1952, Marlin graduated from Westfield High School and continued his education at Whitewater Teachers College where he graduated with an accounting degree. Marlin loved music and played drums in the band that he formed called “Marlin & The Melody Boys”.

He also played with several polka bands in the area. Marlin married Deborah on March 30, 1996, at their home in Neshkoro. Throughout the years, they had enjoyed attending many polka events.

Marlin was confirmed in 1948 and was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro. He had a very close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, even after facing hardships and difficult times. His strong steadfast faith always allowed him to find hope and provide the strength to continue moving forward.

From 1953 to 1956, Marlin owned and operated the Neshkoro Corner Garage known as Teske’s Mobil Service. He was a member of the Neshkoro Fire Department from 1953 to 1960. Marlin’s great legacy was starting the Neshkoro Lions Club in 1974, and serving as the first secretary.

Marlin was a very active member of the club, serving on many committees and holding many offices during his membership. He also served as President for the Fond du Lac Lions Club and for a time served on the Neshkoro Village Board. Marlin had moved to Nekoosa, WI, while employed at the paper mill.

He later moved to Fond du Lac, where he was employed as a guard at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution. He moved back to Neshkoro making it his home, while continuing to work at Taycheedah from which he retired after 20 years of service. Marlin loved to talk to folks and prayed daily for Ken and Mary, Roger, Gary, Pam, Rick, Kathy, his sister, Shirley; Pauline and Art, Betty and Bob, Kathleen, Ron, brothers-in-law, James and David Reisen; Paula and Mark, Jason, Tess, Zander, Jake and Jess, as well as many other neighbors and friends.

The daily phone calls from his sister, Shirley, and her visits were very special to him. Marlin felt especially blessed with the visits he received from Pastor Giebel and Pastor Callies of Zion Lutheran Church and from the Hospice Chaplains, Peg and Bill. Those Marlin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Deborah L. Teske of Neshkoro; his children, Kenneth (Mary) Teske, Roger Teske, Gary (Gina) Teske, Pamela (Scott) Kreiser, Rick Sr. (Cheryl) Teske, Kathy (Mark) Espersen; sister, Shirley Floeter; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Martha Teske – Krueger; brother-in-law, Donald Floeter, one granddaughter, many aunts, uncles, and friends. A memorial service for Marlin Teske will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 1:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, 227 North State St., in Neshkoro. Pastor Arthur Callies will officiate.
