Obituary for Marvalyn Mann Brown Marvalyn Mann Brown was born September 19 1944 in Detroit to the late Susie Taylor and Rumsey Field Mann. She was a diligent, hard worker. She was united in holy matrimony to Elder Joseph Clarence Brown Sr. in April 1965.

This union was blessed with 8 children. Marvalyn loved to sing everywhere she went. She shared her gift that God had blessed her with at church, at home, and even with her students in the public school system where she taught for over 20 years.

Marvalyn has always enjoyed learning and teaching others. This was displayed in obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Business of Administration and teaching students from kindergarten to 12th grade in a variety of subjects. She also enjoyed working in the community as a church secretary, Sunday school teacher, and playing piano for the church.

She was told by Norma Jean, “Don’t let Iva Sharon become her oldest sister”. This did not happen because the lord called Marvalyn home on January 2, 2019 to be with Him. She was surrounded by her caring husband and children by her side as she peacefully began her transition.

She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond V. Brown; sister, Sandra Franks; and brothers, Rumsey II, Columbus I, and Vernon Mann. Cherished memories will always linger in the hearts of her family; her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph Clarence Brown Sr.; mother-in-law, Lucille Clanton; four daughters, Marnita C.
