Marvin’s Obituary Humboldt Twp. - Marvin A. Mackey, age 83 longtime Humboldt Township resident passed away Wednesday February 13, 2019 at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice. Marvin was born April 1, 1935 in Negaunee to Ivar and Hilja (Linna) Mackey.

He graduated from Champion High School, class of 1952. Marvin served his country in the US Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. Marvin worked for Ford Motor Company, Aamco Tool and Die, and Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company- where he worked at the Republic Mine as well as other mines.

Marvin was a passionate deer hunter and enjoyed fishing on Lake Superior, along with his enjoyment of gardening and building bird houses. He was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. Marvin is survived by his wife Barbara (Lehtola) Mackey, whom he married on December 27, 1958, 3 sons: Kyle Mackey of Humboldt, Daryl Mackey of Manitowoc, WI and Brian Mackey of Humboldt, a brother, Gene (Shirley) Mackey of Antigo, WI, 2 sisters: Arlene (Jim) Hanninen of Gwinn and Helen (Steve) Archibald of Yulee, FL, 6 grandchildren: Cara (Bill) Goodall, Jared (Kari) Mackey, David (Lindsay) Mackey, Kristi (Anthony) Carello, Brian Mackey Jr., and Jacob Mackey, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Raymond and Richard, a sister Sandra Ostermeyer, and daughter in law Carol Mackey. Marvin’s family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am-12:00 noon on Saturday February 16, 2019 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with Chas Prusi officiating. A coffee fellowship will follow at the Humboldt Township Hall.
