Baker (Owens), 91, of Purcellville, VA passed from our world on May 16, 2019 in Leesburg, VA. Mary Ann Baker, was born on April 29, 1928 in Loudoun County, VA to Edwin H Owens Sr. and Ella (Gray Wright) Owens. Mary is survived by a son, Kenneth Wayne Baker; two grandchildren Jonathan and Joseph Baker; her brother Richard Owens of Marshall, VA; her sister’s Winnie (Owens) Diggs of Memphis, TN and Rosebud (Owens) Isleib of Hamilton, VA She was preceded in death by both parents and three siblings; brothers, Edwin Jr Owens, Clayton Owens, and sister, Betty Jane Birr.

After Graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946, Mary began her work career with C & P Telephone in Leesburg, VA. After retiring from Continental Bell, she worked part time for Drug Fair & 7-Eleven. Mary was a member of the Purcellville Baptist Church, and the American Legion of Purcellville, VA.

She was elected and served as President of the first advisory board of The Carver Senior Center. Mary was also very accomplished in the Art of crocheting. Her hand work was simply beautiful.

If Mary wasn’t busy creating her own patterns, she would be happily playing Bingo or Texas Hold Em.
