Obituary for Mary A. Marshall Mary A. (Vivieros) Marshall, 96, of Tiverton, RI entered into rest on Thursday, December 27th, 2018 at Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, MA. Born in Fall River, MA, Mary was the daughter of the late Francisco N. and Mary (Souza) Vivieros and was formerly of Portsmouth, RI, Tiverton, RI and Fall River, MA. She was the loving wife of the late George J. Marshall.

Mary was employed by the Naval Torpedo Station in Newport, RI from 1942-1946 as a file clerk; she went on to spend the rest of her career as a seamstress in the textile industry, eventually retiring from Bradly Scott in 1984. She is survived by her loving family: her son James G. Marshall and his wife Carol, her daughter Diana M. Bernier and her husband Alan, seven grandchildren including, Jason, George, Sarah, Samuel, Johnathan, Bobby, and Erica, as well as four great-grandchildren including Brooklyn, Destiny, Justin, and Felicia along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three sisters: Albertina Perry, Elsie Botelho, Doris Trabert, and two brothers Gabriel Vivieros and Frank Vivieros.

Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was the strong and fiercely independent matriarch of a family that will dearly miss her smile, laughter, and soothing presence. Mary loved to cook, bake, sew, read, and care for her loved ones, but most of all, she cherished being able to spend invaluable time with her family.

She was extremely loyal, selfless, and compassionate for her entire life (teaching her family by example). In her later years she enjoyed staying as active as possible and persisting through any challenges that came her way. It is impossible to describe Mary’s warmth and ability to make anyone and everyone feel at ease.

Though she never traveled far from home, the impact she had on her family and many who knew her will be an important legacy of strength, kindness, and love. She truly was the last living angel on Earth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, South Street, Somerset.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10 AM prior to the mass. Other arrangements held privately with the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, Somerset, MA. To leave an online condolence go to www.
