Mary A. Nucifera, age 94, of Columbus, and formerly of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:10am at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Mary was born on August 20, 1924 in New Washington, Ohio, to C.J. and Agnes (Weithman) Krupp. She was married to Leon H. Niederkohr, and he passed away on June 5, 1959.

She then married Joseph T. Nucifera on November 5, 1960 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Sycamore, and he passed away on March 21, 2008. Mary is survived by her four children: Dennis (Patti) Niederkohr of Sun City, Florida, Daniel (Sandra) Niederkohr of Marysville, Ohio, David (Linda) Niederkohr of New Albany, and Diane Niederkohr-Stephens of Delaware. Eight grandchildren: Ryan, Holly, Nicolas, Nathan Niederkohr, Sarah (Niederkohr) Wong, Caitlin (Niederkohr) Schmidt, Joseph Stephens, Jennifer (Stephens) Caeton, along with 8 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by 2 brothers: Ronald (Suzanne) Krupp, David (Kathy) Krupp, and 2 sisters, Lina (Richard) Weimerskirch, and June (Ed) Swope, all of Tiffin, Ohio. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 brothers Bud and Thomas, and 2 sisters, Betty Decker and Dorothy Link. Mary graduated in 1942 from Calvert High School in Tiffin.

She went on to the Academy of Cosmetology in Toledo and from the Cleveland Academy for Electrolysis. She was licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board and practiced Electrolysis for many years in Tiffin and Upper Sandusky. In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed knitting, needlework, and crossword puzzles.

Her greatest delight, however was sharing time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her cheerful disposition and generosity will be missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 29, at the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Antony Varghese Vattaparambil, OFM, Conv.

and Deacon Kevin Wintersteller, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Upper Sandusky. Visitations will be held Wednesday at the church from 9:00am to 10:45am, with a rosary being prayed 15 minutes before service time.
