A celebration of life for Mary Alice Branham Pollock, 74, of Hartselle will be held on May 6, 2019 at 1:00PM and visitation will begin at noon at Peck Funeral Home. Mary was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee. She often talked about the beauty of the hills and how she cherished her grandparents.

Her Mammaw Defoe dotingly called her Morning Glory, which raised up a tradition of finding the perfect nickname for each and every one of her grandchildren. A statement of her faith continues to echo in the generations that share “John 3:16 and Sweet dreams, God bless you, I love you” at bedtime. Mary moved from Tennessee to Hartselle, Alabama as a teen and attended Morgan County High School.

She worked hard throughout her life, inching her way into bigger better jobs. She worked locally at the Piggly Wiggly, and then at Gilchrist Burke Pharmacy before moving into a planning position with Boeing Wichita. Mary spent the majority of her working career with Boeing where she continued to move up and achieved many successes.

One of those successes was meeting her husband, Dave. They were married for 29 years. Mary finished out her working career by taking a completely unforeseen turn.

With a strong desire to help others, she earned her CNA and stepped down from her position at Boeing Georgia. Mary was a very proud member of both the DAV and The American Legion, Post 15, Auxiliary in Decatur, where she held the position of Sgt. at Arms.

Throughout her adult years, Mary loved to explore new places. She spent time in North Carolina, Kansas, Washington State and Georgia. She loved taking yearly trips to the beach with her husband and anyone else who could tag along but her favorite place always remained the foothills of Tennessee.

Mary was a wonderful homemaker, well known for her knack to decorate a room in the most warm and inviting way. She cooked beautiful meals and joyfully shared her secret recipes with her grandchildren, as they worked together in the kitchen. As a retiree, Mary loved a good fresh cup of coffee and watching the birds in her backyard.

But her favorite pastime was sharing the funny stories and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lovingly known as Sweet Pea, Moma, Mary Momma and Nanny by husband, children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren, she fulfilled her favorite job by leaving unique and special memories with the people she loved above all other things in this world.
