Mary Alice Honaker Artrip, age 77, of Abingdon, Va. , passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born September 25, 1941, to the late Lester Honaker and Ola Margie Yates Honaker in Russell County, Va.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Cecil Artrip; son, Rick Artrip; two brothers, Lawrence Honaker and Clarence Honaker; and three sisters, Virginia O’Dell Monk,… Read More » Gaylene Bishop, and Fayrene Honaker. She is survived by two sons: Tim Artrip and wife, Denise, of Pulaski, Va. and Mike Artrip and wife, Reba, of Cedar Bluff, Va.

; daughter, Selena Self and husband, Danny, of Bristol, Va. ; sister, Tressa Gilliam of Kingsport, Tenn. ; ten grandchildren, Jimmy Artrip, Stephanie Pulvermacher, Kelly Reed, Megan Hebb, Justin Artrip, Cory Artrip, Dakota Artrip, Nick Artrip, Rielly Self, and Alicyn Self; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy. , Abingdon, VA 24210, on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Houchins officiating.

Interment will follow at Russell Memorial Cemetery where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be at the Forest Hills Chapel on Saturday from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thanks to special friend, Sharron Parkhurst.
