Mary Alice Drake Smith, age 79, of Springfield, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Marvin Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brian J. Lance, Edwin Lance, Paxton Smith, Chris Hornbuckle, Chad Smith and Robert Dale Anderson serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Billy Scott Smith will be an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm. Mrs. Smith was born September 16, 1939 in Robertson County to the late Ewing and Mary Helen Stroud Drake.

She worked in the Personnel Department at DuPont and was a member of the Coopertown Church of Christ. In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her brother, John Ewing Drake. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Billy Mac Smith; sons, Billy Scott Smith of Monteagle, TN and Chad Drake (Brook) Smith of Knoxville; brother, Doug Drake of Cross Plains; sister, Jean (Nall) Henslee of Springfield; grandchildren, Oakley Sloan Smith, Paxton Bryant Smith, Elizabeth Grace Smith, Emma Kate Smith and Ella Ruby Smith.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Coopertown Church of Christ. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
