Obituary for Mary Ann L. Erickson Mary Ann Lucille Erickson, 97, of Omaha, formerly of Holdrege, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Omaha. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Keene Evangelical Free Church, with visitation preceding the service at 1:30. The Rev.
Matt Snell will officiate. Burial will be held at the church cemetery. Memorials in Mary Ann’s honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Ann was born on September 25, 1921, on a farm near Keene, to Ernest and Adina (Paulsen) Wendell. On June 4, 1944, she married Carroll Dean Erickson.
She graduated from Wilcox High School and Kearney State College. She taught music in Axtell, Nebraska, Stanton, Iowa, and Phelps County Rural Schools. She was known for her beautiful voice, singing the soprano solos in Handel’s Messiah for many years.
She faithfully conducted the choir at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Dean Erickson, her parents Ernest and Adina Wendell, siblings Theone Westland, Ardell Campbell, Milford Wendell, and grandson Aten Eric Olsen. Survivors include her children, Carol Lou Dominguez, Kay Olsen, Steven Erickson and wife Rebecca, Christine Ploegman and husband Paul; grandchildren, Sarah and Dan Tompkins, Rachel and Nate Brandon, Adina and John Bell, Amelia and Christopher Addington, Calvin W. Olsen, Ruthanne Erickson, Carl Erickson, Adam and Summer Ploegman, Claire, Noah and Anna Ploegman; great-grandchildren, James, Hannah and Elizabeth Tompkins, Minic, Eli and Owen Brandon, Alyssa and Arsalan Chishty, Olivia, Emily and Isaiah Bell, MacMillan, Benjamin and Elliott Addington, Adelaide Erickson, Sage Erickson-Listabarger; sister, Carol Wells; sister-in-law, Mary Wendell; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
