Cohoes, NY Mary Anna Scarfo, was born April 22, 1946 in Cohoes, NY. She departed this life on January 30, 2019. Her parents were the late Francis and Mary Scarfo.

When she was seven she was placed in Rome Development Center in Rome, NY. Eventually she relocated to the Capital District and began receiving services through the Center for Disability Services and the Brunswick Center. Mary Anna was quite lively.

She enjoyed Fridays because she saw it as a day to party. She enjoyed birthday parties and celebrations. Whenever there was a birthday party, Mary Anna became the life of the party.

She had a great sense of humor. She would pretend that staff would hurt her by saying, “Ouch! ” before anyone touched her.

Mary Anna loved singing. Her mood would instantly change when her support staff would sing her favorite song, “You are My Sunshine”. She touched the hearts of everyone she met.

Her bright light of joy will be missed by all who knew her. Mary Anna leaves two sisters, Nickilina Moryl and Lois Wojcik, along with a staff that supported her like family at her White Church Residence and at Brunswick Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am from the Marra Funeral Home.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Waterford. Calling hours are Tuesday from 10-11 prior to services. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mary Ann Scarfo please visit our Sympathy Store.
