A celebration of life for Mary B. Swolley, 65, of Keota, will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held from 9 – 11 AM at the funeral home on Friday. Cremation will follow the service.

A general memorial fund has been established. Mary Swolley died Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home in rural Keota. Mary Bell Swolley was born January 11, 1953 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Cora (Roe) Swolley.

She earned her GED from Kirkwood Community College where she studied accounting. She was united in marriage to Glen Gingerich at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mary was most recently employed at the Riverside Casino until failing health required her to retire.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing games on the computer, camping and spending time with her family. Survivors include her dog Tippy, husband Glen of Keota, daughter Misty (Chuck) Vest and grandson Ethan White of West Chester, four sisters: Margaret Andersen of Exira, IA. , Nancy (Tom) Wills of Colorado, Cathy Zimmerman of Columbus, NE.

, Donna Cline and special friend Jim Moore of Iowa City. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding Mary in death were her parents, one brother William Swolley, six sisters: Carol Jayne, Karen Johnson, Christine Freland, Linda Van Voltenburg, Betty White and Sandy Swolley.
