Mary C. Ashburn July 25, 1936 – March 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mary Catherine Ashburn, 82, of Windham, NH passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. She was born on July 25, 1936, in Lawrence, MA to the late Emma (Griffin) and Joseph O’Connor. Mary attended St. Mary’s grammar school and high school, went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at Lowell State Teacher’s College, and later received her master’s degree from Boston College.

She began her career as a teacher in Lawrence schools and later became a guidance counselor. Mary then worked for many years as a Guidance Counselor at North Andover High School, and later as an Assistant Principal in North Andover Middle School. She finished her career in education by serving as the Assistant Principal for Wilmington Middle School.

In her retirement, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader. Mary was a member of the Women’s Service Club in Windham.

Mary’s love and kindness will be missed by all of her family and friends. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert E. Ashburn of Windham; her son and daughter-n-law, Tom and Stacy Ashburn of NJ; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary O’Connor of VA, her grandchildren, Matthew, Brady, and Caitlin Ashburn; niece and nephews, Joseph O’Connor, Joan Brown, and David O’Connor; her grand-niece Rachel; her grand-nephews, Joe, Patrick, Chris, Jason and Ryan; as well as her great-great-nephew, Jackson. Calling hours will be held from 9:30-11:00 am on Wednesday, March 20th at St. Matthew’s Parish, 2 Searles Road Windham, NH 03087.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 11:00 am. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepard’s Pantry Inc, 1 Church Rd. Windham NH, 03087.
