Obituary for Mary Catherine Adams Hensley MARY CATHERINE ADAMS HENSLEY, of Pylesville, MD died on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the home of her son in Havre de Grace, MD. Born on July 24, 1924, she was 94 and the daughter of the late Earl and Hassie (Mink) Adams. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years at the time of his death, Reverend Riley Bruce Hensley who passed in July 1998 and her daughter, Grace McMillan who died earlier this year.
Mrs. Hensley is survived by: Her three children- Wade Hensley of Havre de Grace, MD Herbert Hensley of Lebanon, MO Gloria Hamm of Hampstead, MD Ten grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren Six siblings: Thelma Stamper, Robert Adams, Earl J. Adams, Allen Adams, Phillip Adams and O. Wayne Adams. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Geneva Mulligan, Stella Little and Senia Phipps. Mary served the Lord since she was 13 years of age and continued her dedication when she married Riley Hensley in 1940.
She assisted in his ministry by leading congregations in song, teaching Sunday School and Bible studies. Together they served in PA, VA, DE, MD as well as traveling to various states to hold revival meetings. Mary enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and flowers.
She was the founder/owner of the former Jarrettsville Flowers for many years. Services will be held on Monday, Christmas Eve at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, with a viewing from 10 to 12 noon followed immediately with the funeral service. Interment to follow in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta.
