Rye – Mary E. Concannon, 80, of Rye, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born May 16, 1938 in Portsmouth the daughter of the late J. Henry and Alice (Fernald) Concannon. Raised in Portsmouth she graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1955 and from Keene State Teachers College in 1959.

Miss Concannon taught first grade at Rye Elementary School for 39 years retiring in 1998. She made her home in Rye since 1959 and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and past NH State President. She was also a member of the Portsmouth Women’s College Club and Southeast Retired Teachers Association.

She loved her late canine friends Benji and Rudy. She leaves longtime friends, June McLaren of Rye, Kathleen A. Cole of Chester, Bette Owens of Stratham and Jane Scruton of South Berwick, ME; several cousins and her feline friend Greta. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Central Cemetery, Rye.
