OBITUARY Mary Elizabeth Davis “Betty” Morrison September 17, 1933 – September 9, 2018 Mary Elizabeth Davis Morrison, known as Betty, passed away on September 9, 2018, at her home in Charlotte, NC, at age 84, surrounded by her children. Betty was a member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Concord, NC. Born on September 17, 1933, Betty grew up on a farm near Quincy, Fla.

She attended King College in Bristol, Tenn. , where she met her husband, William Harvey Morrison, Sr. (Bill), and they were married on June 2, 1955. Bill graduated from King College with a B.A. in History and from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga, with Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Divinity degrees.

Betty went on to complete her B.A. in Elementary Education at Florida State University. Bill, with his wife Betty, served Presbyterian churches in DeKalb, Miss. , Denham Springs, La.

, Havana, Fla, Fayetteville, NC, Gilbert, WV, and Spencer, NC, before retiring in Charlotte, NC, in 1994. Betty was a teacher at many schools where they resided, including Havana Elementary, Sunnyside Elementary, Stedman Jr High, Gilbert High School, and North Rowan Middle School. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents, John Forrest Davis, Sr. and Olean Shuler Davis, brother, Hal A. Davis and his wife, Carolyn, and their son, Hal, Jr., and sister, Kay Davis Lay and her husband, Bob Lay.

Betty is survived by sons, William H. Morrison, Jr. and Robert F. Morrison; daughter, Margaret Morrison Ewart; grandson, David Ewart (wife, Erin); and great grandsons, Brennen and Colson; brother, Johnny (wife, Ann); sister, Saradee (husband, Tom); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 am Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Rocky River Presbyterian Church, 7940 Rocky River Road in Concord, NC, with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 am in the church cemetery. The Reverend Dr. Neal Carter will officiate.
