Mary Ellen Dalton Arbon, 86, of Idaho Falls, died September 25, 2018 at her residence in Sagewood at Daybreak assisted living, South Jordan, Utah, attended by family and her husband, Dr. Ronald K. Arbon MD after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Mary Ellen was born on April 24, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho and was adopted six days later by her parents, Alvin William Dalton and Margaret Louise McDonald Dalton. She loved her parents dearly and loved her birth mother and half-sisters whom she discovered and developed a relationship with later in life.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald K. Arbon; children, Karen Louise (Todd) Lloyd of Idaho Falls, ID and Gary Lynn (Cindy) Arbon of Riverton, UT; seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Alvin and Margaret Dalton; her brother, Alvin “Bill” Dalton; and her son, Kenneth Joseph Arbon. Mary Ellen was raised by humble, faithful, and loving parents.

She had a beautiful singing voice which graced all our lives. Ronald and Mary Ellen were married after high school graduation on September 11, 1950 in Pocatello, ID and sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. She devoted her life to serving her family and others.

Mary Ellen served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women’s president, frequently as chorister, and participated in community, school, and church service activities. She learned to fly an airplane. She always spread good cheer, helping people feel welcome and loved.

As her dementia increased, Mary Ellen would sing, in tune, throughout the day, everywhere in the assisted living facility. She welcomed everyone she met as a long-lost friend. The world is a bit brighter because Mary Ellen served and loved so many people.

The family expresses their great appreciation to the caregivers of Sagewood at Daybreak assisted living, Brio Home Health and Hospice, and our other home health aides, for the amazing, loving care they gave to Mary Ellen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, (Downtown Location) Idaho Falls, ID, 83402. The family will visit with friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the funeral services.

Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
