Mary’s Obituary Mary Ellen Butsch, 71, passed away in Silverton on February 7, 2019. She was born in Albany to Lloyd and Mary Bates on July 7, 1947. When she was 6 years old, the family moved to Port Orford on the Oregon coast.

She attended grade school and high school in Port Orford; and then moved to Mt. Angel to attend the Mt. Angel Womens College for 2 years.

While there she met a local boy, Tim Butsch, and they were eventually married in 1968. Together they spent the next 50 years in Mt. Angel raising their family.

Mary Ellen will be remembered for her smile and a hug for everyone she met. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Mt. Angel Historical Society.

At her request no funeral will be held, a celebration of life to be held at a later date. She is survived by her husband, Tim, daughter, Joan, son, Norbert, brothers, William and Charles; and 5 grandchildren. Arrangements with Unger Funeral Chapel.
