POLKTON – Mrs. Mary Frances Coble Threadgill, 85, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, June 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bennett Family Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 1:30pm until 3:00pm prior to the service and other times at the home. Mary Frances was born, Wednesday, July 6, 1932 in Anson County, NC, the oldest of six children of the late William Henry “Bill” Coble and the late Frances Eugenia Hill Coble. She was the granddaughter of the late, Henry P. Hill and Mary Jane Hudson Hill and the late John R. Coble and Sarah Frances Howell Coble.

She worked for 51 years in the textile industry before retirement; 21 years were at Gilead Manufacturing Company, with the remaining years at Pokton Hosiery Mill, Polkon Shirt Factory, Anson Shirt Company, Shannon Manufacturing Company and Burnsville Apparel. On Wednesday, November 23, 1955 in Chesterfield, SC, she married John Craven “JC” Threadgill of Polkton, the Sugartown Community. JC and Mary Frances were married for 49 years and 4 months at the time of his death in March 2005.

Surviving are her only daughter, Carolyn Threadgill Kiker; her grandson, Cody T. Kiker, Sr.; her great-grandson, Cody T. Kiker, Jr., who she called Babe and loved beyond words; her sister, Helen Coble Bowers of Indian Trail; her brothers and sister-in-law, William “Billy” Coble and Helen Sikes Coble of Charlotte and Ralph Coble of Wadesboro; she has eight nieces and nephews and their families from the Coble family. Also surviving are the Threadgill family, Frances Threadgill Harrington and husband, Mason of Mathews and Lonnie Threadgill and wife, Barbara of Polkton; she has six nieces and nephews and their families from the Threadgill family; and special childhood friend, Lois Jones Steele of Wadesboro. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Coble Ingold and Richard; brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie Hill Coble, Sr. and Carolyn; brother-in-law, Frank M. Bowers; son-in-law, Thomas F. “Tom” Kiker and father-in-law and mother-in-law, EC “Lige” and Lucy Davis Threadgill.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors who cared for Mary Frances; Dr. Martin Kreson, Milea Simpson-Meeke, PA and their staff and most recently to the staff of Hospice of Union County, her nurses, Monica and Sharon and to her long-time hairdresser and friend, Sheila Harward for the loving care and support given to Mary Frances and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. , Monroe, NC 28110.
