Mary’s Obituary Mary Irene Griesinger, 99, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away at home on December 22, 2018. Born February 5, 1919, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Mary was the oldest of two children born to Ethel Pauline and Benjamin Harrison Hicks. After graduating from Tulsa High School in 1936, Mary attended business school.

During WWll Mary worked for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego before marrying and moving to Lima, Ohio. The family moved to Florida in 1956 and Mary raised her three daughters in Daytona Beach. An avid gardener, Mary prided herself on her green thumb and shared her love of plants with many friends.

She also trusted in her faith to guide her decisions and life. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in senior choir, homebound ministry, Joy Fellowship, craft for ministry and Evangelism Explosion. After retirement Mary traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Penny Vernon (Ira), Fort Lauderdale, Pam Griesinger, Ormond Beach, and Pat (George Rousis) Griesinger, Ormond Beach; three grandchildren, Damon Rousis, Austin, Texas, Lauren Vernon, Coral Gables, and Paula Vernon, New York City, New York; and one great grandchild, Charlotte Dyer. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 26, from 4 – 5 PM at Lohman’s Funeral Home, Ormond Beach. A service will follow at 5 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mary’s name to Halifax Health Hospice or First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach. Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
