Obituary for Mary Jane “Janie” Howell “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord”. Matthew 25:23 Mrs. Mary Jane Howell, age 67, was called home by the Lord at 12:20 PM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. Her story began on August 27, 1951, the first born of Sam and Peggy Armbruster.
She was soon lovingly deemed Janie by family, and experienced a wonderful childhood growing up with cousins and friends making lifelong memories she loved to share as an adult with her own children. She is admired for her hard-working and determined nature that was demonstrated in all of the things she loved to do. Gardening, cooking, baking, canning and sewing were some of the ways she shared her talents with family, church family, friends and colleagues.
She began her career with the Farmers Home Administration as a part-time county office clerk in May 1986. Her position became full time in 1988 and she was later promoted to the position of Farm Loan Technician which she proudly retired from in 2014. The importance of family, faithfulness, and love of God were deeply embedded into her heart and she strived to instill those values in her children and grandchildren.
She became a faithful member of New Harmony Baptist Church on October 27, 1985. She served the Lord there the rest of her life, teaching the preschool Sunday School class and Vacation Bible School class for 30 plus years. She loved teaching young children about God’s love.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Mr. Sidney Howell of Clinton; one sister – Linda Carol Burton of Fulgham; six children – Carol (Shane) Byassee, Thomas (Amy) Crump both of Clinton, Jennie (Craig) Lotz of Paducah, Joyce (Kendall) Byassee of Clinton, Sandi Kimbro of Munford, TN and Kristi (Chad) Sanders of Owensboro; grandchildren – Harlee Byassee, Owen, Harper, Conlee, and expecting Violet Crump all of Clinton, Evie Lotz of Paducah, Jack Jenna, and Sam Byassee of Clinton, Dylan Kimbro of Nashville, TN, Dawson Kimbro of Munford, TN, Karli Sanders and Maci Sanders both of Owensboro; great-grandchild Charlotte Rose Kimbro, Nashville, TN.
