Mary Jo Doherty Saginaw, MI Gone to a place in the sun on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the age of 81 years. The daughter of the late Henry and Veronica (Griffin) Boven was born on November 23, 1937 in Flint. She married Norman S. Doherty on October 23, 1993; he survives her.

She retired from the Bridgeport Public Schools. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mary Jo became a Lay Minister and Eucharistic Minister.

Upon her retirement, she became a Master Yoga instructor, teaching classes at the Saginaw YMCA. Mary Jo enjoyed journaling, reading and visiting residents of nursing homes and hospice centers. She loved to laugh, and hers was infectious.

Mary Jo brought joy to many and will be greatly missed. Surviving besides her husband, Norman, are her children: Morrine Moody, Thomas Moody, Kelly Moody, Timothy Moody, her step-children: Jeanne (Mark) Milnes, Noreen (Johnathan) Schimmel, Kevin (Heather) Doherty, grandchildren: Chris Garcia, Miranda King, Clint Batten, Olivia Gray, Taylor Moody, Aubrey Wise, Veronica Moody, Connor Milnes, Rylan Milnes, Mason Schimmel, Beverly Schimmel, Jack Schimmel, great-grandchildren: Baylee Jo, Kash, Kayne , Brodee, Bruklynn Garcia, her siblings: Michael (Jackie) Boven, Gail Grella, Patrick (Joy) Boven, Cherry (William) Stroup and many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two granddaughters: Amanda Erin Moody, Macy Jo Lynn Moody, her sister, Elieann Boven, and her brother-in-law Tony Grella.
