Mary Joyce Cox King, 87, passed away on February 15, 2019 in Southaven, MS. surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavon King and daughter Barbara King Brown, also parents Howard and Mattie Cox, siblings, John Cox and twin sister Loyce Cox .

She is survived by her son Jerry Lavon King of LA, grandson Cameron Parker King of CA. Her sister, Jane Cox Daniel of Horn Lake, MS and brother, James Cox of Ripley, MS, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. King worked in the nursery at Baptist East Hospital for many years where she rocked and cared for many babies of the Memphis area.

She was actively involved in First Baptist Church of Southaven and appreciated her church family and friends. She also loved animals almost as much as people and treasured both hers and her family’s and friend’s pets. Babies, pets, and her church life, along with her family and friends were her greatest joys.

Visitation with her family will be on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 pm with her funeral service following at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Southaven at 8888 Highway 51 N in Southaven, MS. In lieu of flowers the family request any memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Southaven, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or any Animal shelter in the area.
