Mrs. Mary Kiker Thomas, 85, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. There will be a service to celebrate her life at 3:00pm Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Ledford officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service. Mary was born December 26, 1933 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Ira Tero Kiker and the late Maude Hudson Kiker. She was a graduate of Burnsville High School and a faithful member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

She worked as assistant manager of A and P Grocery Store retiring after 23 years and later worked at Food Lion in Wadesboro for 16 years in customer service. She enjoyed traveling, reading and community volunteer work. Surviving are her grandson, Jake Thomas and wife, Shannon of Peachland; her great-granddaughter, Addison; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Thomas of Polkton; her sister, Beth Ross and husband, Fred of Indian Trail and her nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lyndon Thomas and her brothers and sisters, Rupert Kiker, Clyde Kiker, Violet Thomas, Doris Carelock and Myrtle Kiker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, c/o, Susie McSwain, 424 Pork Rd. , Peachland, NC 29133 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd.
