Mary’s Obituary Mary Kwikkel, age 86 of Sioux Center, IA, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, March 11th at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, with Rev. Van Rathbun officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Memorial Funeral Home. Mary Martha Kwikkel was born on September 23, 1932 in Sioux Center, IA, the daughter of Jacob W. and Ida (Van Ek) Van Steenwyk.

She grew up in Sioux Center and later graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1951. On August 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kwikkel in Sioux Center, IA. To this union two children were born, Mariam and Kenneth.

Mary worked outside the home a few times but for most of her married life she was a homemaker. She was an avid gardener and love spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Kenneth Kwikkel of Sioux Center; son, Kenneth J. Kwikkel of Sioux Center; son-in-law, Ronald Muth of Ireton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other extended-family.

She was preceded in death by her parent; daughter, Mariam Muth; brother, Norm Van Steenwyk; and sister and brother-in-law, Elma and Wesley Dykstra.
