Mary (Lyman) (Hardwicke) Rowe 1926 – 2018 Waterville – Mary (Lyman) (Hardwicke) Rowe, 92, passed away peacefully in her home in Waterville, Maine on November 11, 2018. Mary was born in Norwich, Connecticut on August 16, 1926, the oldest of 4 children, to Mabel (Hagberg) and John R. Lyman. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1944 and Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston, Massachusetts in 1947 where she was trained as a registered nurse.

Mary was tireless in her lifelong service to others, including Senior Spectrum as a senior companion and delivering meals on wheels, Somerset County Extension Service, Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA), The Universalist Unitarian Church in Oakland, Maine, and Kennebelles barbershop chorale. She will be remembered for many, many acts of kindness.

Mary leaves her daughter Susan (Hardwicke) Jackson (and David), with grandson William of Waterville, Maine; brother David (and Ruth) Lyman of Norridgewock, Maine; brother Charles (and Wanda) Lyman of Denver, Pennsylvania; and birth daughter Paula Fischer of Farmington, New Mexico, along with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends from all over the country. She is predeceased by her husbands William B. Hardwicke (1969) and William P. Rowe (1991); brother John Lyman (2006) and sisters-in law Marjory (2018) and Olive (2015). Mary’s family invite you to a celebration of her life to be held Saturday, November 24 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 26 Washington Street, Waterville, Maine.

A graveside service is planned for Summer 2019 at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich, Connecticut. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home. Memories, condolences, and photographs can be shared with Mary’s family at www.
