Obituary for Mary Louise Kelly Mary Louise Kelly, age 94, of Buda, TX went to be with our Lord on September 21, 2018 with her family at her bedside. Mary was born September 20, 1924 to Charlie and Mary Opersteny in Bryan, Texas. Mary was raised in Texas and spent all of her life here.
Her greatest sense of accomplishment came from knowing she had helped all five of her children earn degrees from Texas A&M University. She loved the outdoors. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and whatever her children were involved in, including Boy Scouts, baseball and anything else her children enjoyed.
Mary married the love of her life, James E. Kelly (Texas A&M class of 1946) on January 15, 1949 in Bryan, Texas. She spent her days devotedly loving her family, unselfishly providing a home filled with love and good food, and passionately sharing her grace through her kind, altruistic actions. She didn’t know the meaning of “too busy” as she always found a way to make time for everything good.
She showed her devotion through her work with Santa Cruz Catholic Church serving as a Charter Member of the Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, and on the bereavement committee. She served on the Buda Public Library Board. Every day she set out to show her family and comunity how much they meant to her.
To her, to love was to give and to live was to serve. Her life was bountiful in loving moments and meaningful experiences. Remaining to cherish her memories are her Brother; Charles J. Opersteny and wife Regina, children; Michael K. Kelly(‘76) and wife Martha (‘79) of New Braunfels, TX, James P. Kelly (Pat)(‘77) and wife Robin of Richardson, TX, Katherine A. Kelly(‘79) of Bryan, TX, Timothy J. Kelly(‘82) of Plano, TX, Mark D. Kelly(‘85) and wife Sonia of Houston, TX.
