Bernardston- Mary Louise (Keniston) Madden, 84, of South Street passed away on Friday, October 5 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. She was born in Greenfield on April 23, 1934, the daughter of Walter Keniston and Doris Gove. Mary attended Greenfield High School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Pondville Hospital School of Nursing in Walpole, MA.

She worked as an LPN at the former Farren Memorial Hospital, Franklin County Public Hospital, and several local nursing homes. Later, Mary also served as a school crossing guard, and worked for Coca Cola, Hallmark Color Labs, and Deerfield Academy, from where she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her family was truly her life.

Besides her beloved husband of 62 years, Henry, Mary leaves a daughter, Dr. Jennifer Madden of Amherst, NH; a son, Daniel Madden and his wife Karen of Franklin, MA; a daughter-in-law, Mary Guy Madden of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Oliver, Alex, Evan and Lia Madden; a brother, Earl Albert and his wife Leslie of West Stockbridge, MA; a sister-in-law, Margaret Kabaniec of Erving, MA and her children, Chet Kabaniec of Baltimore, MD and Sandee Kabaniec of Montague, MA, and several other nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. Ronald Albert and Charles Keniston, who died as an infant.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday 10/12 at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy Campoli officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

A calling hour will be held from Friday morning from 9:45-10:45am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Alliance, PO Box 418372, Boston, MA 02241-8372. For condolences, please visit www.
