Obituary for Mary Louise Williams Sister Mary Louise Hawkins Williams was born July 25, 1929 in Live Oak, Florida to the late Mammie Hawkins. She was an only child and was raised by her grandparents the late Rosa and Alex Hawkins. She attended Douglas Elementary and Douglas High School in Live Oak.

Mary loved basketball and while in high school she played basketball on the girl’s team. In January 1947. Mary met the late Henry Williams and they were united in Holy Matrimony on January 11, 1947.

This union was blessed with four children: Alfred III (deceased), Evonne (deceased), Eugene (deceased), and John Williams. In 1953, Mary and Henry moved to Pompano Beach to continue to raise their two sons so that they could give the a better life. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She loved her sons dearly, her family, and her extended family. She would travel miles to attend weddings, graduations, and other functions. She was a very hard worker and was always willing to help anyone that was in need and never expected anything in return.

She would always say, “God blesses me”. Sister Mary received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on July 25, 1963, under the leadership of the late Elder Charlie Thomas (Thomas Temple COGIC). She served her church faithfully as a member, a member of Choir #1, scholarship committee, food basket committee, and what else she found her hands to do.

She was a devout Christian woman. She loved the Lord, and her conversation was about the Lord and fishing. She wanted everyone saved.

Her desire was to be with the Lord and wanted everyone else there with her. She is preceded in death by: Husband: Henry Williams; children: Alfred III, Evonne, Eugene; granddaughter: Rochelle Pete; aunt: Annie Hawkins; and dear cousins (like sister/brother): JoAnn and Harold Daniels. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving son, John Williams and daughter-in-law: Yvonne; grandchildren: Keunta (Damien) Samuels of North Lauderdale, FL, Martika Williams of Coral Springs, FL, Felica (Jimmie) Jones of Miramar, FL, Antoine (Jeanette) of Port St. Lucie, FL, TeDerek Hallman of Atlanta, GA, Inger (Jami) Moore of Deerfield Beach, FL, April Clemmons of Columbus, OH; daughter-in -law: Charlotte Williams of Oakland Park, FL: two sisters-in-law: Grace Dixon of Leesburg, FL, Betty Newby (like a daughter) of Seffner, FL; a devoted cousin: Rose Oliver of Immokalee, FL; dear friend: Doris Baker of Live Oak, FL; The Harold and Joann Daniels’ family of Tampa, FL; and numerous great grands, nieces, nephews, friends and Godchildren.
