Mary Love Eyster August 14, 1934 – March 15, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mary Loveless Weeks Eyster (Mary Love) passed away on March 15, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born on August 14, 1934 in Scottsboro, AL to Elizabeth Morgan Weeks and Harold O’Dell Weeks. She graduated from Scottsboro High School and Vanderbilt University.

She married John C Eyster in 1956. Mary Love was involved in number of community activities in Decatur. She served on the Decatur City School Board, the state textbook committee and was a tireless campaigner during her husband’s bid for Congress in 1976.

She enjoyed a 50+ year bridge club group and served as President of Decatur Junior Service League. She was also very active in Christian service, after being transformed by a renewed relationship with Jesus through involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ, now known as Cru. She taught Sunday School for many years at Southside Baptist Church and at The Church at Quail Creek, as well as several high school Bible studies for her grandchildren and their friends.

She was the area teaching director for Community Bible Study for 25 years. She and her daughter Elizabeth later developed a Bible study series for teens. Mary Love then wrote two devotional books.

She enjoyed her marriage and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband John C. Eyster, her parents and her brother Morgan Weeks. She is survived by her daughters Carol Nail (Matt), Elizabeth “Weety” Vickery (Mike) and a son John Eyster (Lisa), a sister-in-law Bonnie Weeks, seven grandchildren, Virginia “Ginny” Pylant (John), Morgan Coulter (Dan), Kate Peek (David), Heather Nail, Luke Nail, Mary Frances Eyster and Katie Eyster, and seven great grandchildren, Mary Bibb Pylant, Virginia Pylant, Annie Pylant, Caroline Coulter, Jackson Coulter, Mills Peek and Charlie Peek.

Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Grand Pavilion at Quail Creek (233 Quail Creek Drive Hartselle, AL, followed by a funeral service at The Church at Quail Creek at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 17th. Burial will be at Decatur City Cemetery following the funeral service. Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
